MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION

March, 2008                                                                                   Bishkek

 

We, members of the Alliance "Women Legislative Initiatives",

Being guided by a principle of equal rights and equal opportunities declaimed by the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic and guided by national and international law obligations on human rights accepted by the Kyrgyzstan authorities;

Welcoming inclusion of special measures in Election Laws and Procedures of the Kyrgyz Republic and welcoming an increase in female representatives at the decision making levels;

Recognizing that the crisis processes in economic, social and political fields have a negative impact upon the majority of the population in Kyrgyzstan and cause an increasing quantity of vulnerable groups in Kyrgyzstan;

Being convinced that taking into account the interests of various social groups at legislative and political levels promotes improvement in quality of policies and fosters a progressive development of the country;

Understanding that for overcoming the shortages and for ensuring a progress in gender balanced development in Kyrgyzstan there is a need for a constant dialogue among public organizations, political parties and state bodies aimed at achieving equal rights, equal opportunities and equal outcomes;

Learning from a positive experience of women' movement in gender balanced development, including united initiatives in protection and advancement of women' rights;

 

We conclude the given Memorandum of Cooperation with
The Alliance "Women Legislative Initiatives" (AWLI)

 

The AWLI members unite for solving the following tasks:

 

-Development and lobbying of gender equality policies;
-Increase in women participation in decision making regarding policies;
-Monitoring of the Kyrgyz authorities' compliance with its national and international law
obligations regarding equal rights and equal opportunities for Kyrgyzstani citizens;
-Expanding a network of partners and supporters.

 

The given Memorandum may be changed in some of its parts or completely in accordance with the set procedures.
